The Call Her Daddy Podcast Drama
One of my favorite recent social media stories that has been told is about the new era of the Call Her Daddy podcast. Call Her Daddy is a podcast that started in 2018 and was originally ran by two girls, Alexandra Cooper and Sofia Franklyn. After a year under their contract with Barstool Sports, the girls were wanting to renegotiate their contract. This led to a very messy situation for the podcast duo that eventually led them to end their friendship and separation of the infamous Call Her Daddy duo.
Background
In 2018, Alex and Sofia started the Call Her Daddy podcast. They created their podcast to talk about their experiences with relationships, sex and boys. A lot of their listeners are college kids. From their carefree and very out their attitude to the wild stories they shared on the podcast, they quickly gained popularity and eventually got picked up by Barstool Sports. Call Her Daddy is currently ranked as 12th on Apple Podcasts out of all time podcasts and has 1.4 Million followers on their Instagram. They signed a three year contract with Barstool and as months passed they were gaining more followers.
What Happened to Call Her Daddy?
After a year of Call Her Daddy, they had much success and believed they deserved more than they were getting. They went to the Barstool president Dave Portnoy to renegotiate their contract. As all contracts go, it is difficult to change what was written originally unless both parties can agree to similar changes.
After a few months of going back and forth, Franklyn was later removed from the Call Her Daddy brand. The story about the whole situation was shared on multiple platforms. Leading up to the release of the story the Call Her Daddy girls were dropping hints about the situation but not speaking fully about which kept listeners on their toes.
People kept asking what was going on, talking about Call Her Daddy, they gained a lot of attention once the story released. The podcast is a great example of storytelling because they tell it how it is. They don’t sugarcoat or make things PG, their content is original and genuine. Even once Cooper went solo, the content remained the same. The social media accounts are always active and they are always promoting their brand. Call Her Daddy got completely rebranded and is still going to continue without Franklyn
